Jesus is God
John 1:14
Week 10/Day 4
Hello, everybody, my name is Daisy, and today I am going to be inviting you as we open our Bibles and spend some quality alone time with God. To follow along, you need your Bible, and a pen, and a designated journal. If you have our Alone With God journal, please use that. And if you don’t have our Alone With God journal, please reach out to us so that we can get you one because the Alone With God journal is the perfect way to practice spending alone time in the scripture as you transform your life through the Living Word of God.
So, today we are going to be meditating on John 1, verse 14. I will read the passage a couple of times, and then I would like you to pause your recording and read the verse on your own. Before you press play again, just really meditate on the scripture, and write in the Meditate section of your journal. Think about what is God saying to you. What is he saying about humanity? What is he saying about himself? What are the spiritual principles of this verse, and why does it matter?
So, let’s meditate on God’s Word together.
John 1:14 (CSB)
14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Go ahead, pause the recording, and write in the Mediate section of your journal now.
I was scrolling through TikTok earlier this week (because I’m a Millennial/GenZ person), and I saw this video of a girl who was asking if God was real, then why doesn’t he just reveal himself? Why doesn’t he just settle the debate once and for all and show us, “Hey? I’m God. I’m real. Here I am.”
But in John Chapter 1, the scripture lays out exactly who Jesus is. Jesus is the perfect representation of what God is really like. The truth is that God has already revealed himself to us and to his creation over and over again throughout the years and years of existence in so many different ways.
And he was even crucified for it. He spilled his blood just to be denied. There is no more proof than that. He came and dwelt among us. The Word became flesh and was murdered. And we still deny that he’s God. That is so painful to even think about. God has taken the time to generously reveal himself to us time and time again, and yet we still doubt.
So, we’re going to pause and take a moment. I want you to apply this scripture to your life. In the Apply section of your journal, write down your own thoughts about what stands out to you about the verse. Read more of the passage if you want to. But, let’s pause again, and as you think about your own life, think about how is God showing up in your life. Are you acknowledging his presence, or are you still asking him to prove his existence to you? So pause, and apply.
Okay, so now we are going to take a moment to respond to God and think about what actions we can take this week to really build on top of what we’ve discussed today. In the Respond area of your journal, write down something like this. How can you change your perspective from needing proof that God is who he says he is and that he’s going to keep his promises to you? And flip that, and start to show gratitude for the ways that God has already shown up for us. How he’s shown up in your personal life, how he’s shown up in this world, how he’s shown up for other people, how he shows up in scripture. Prove to yourself the existence of God. Look at his record. Look at his reputation and allow that to be the proof. So, pause this recording again and respond to God.
Finally, we are going to close out in prayer. And I will close us out in prayer, and you will take the last few minutes to write a prayer of your own in the Pray section of your journal page.
So, let’s pray.
God, you are the real and only God. You are truly our Heavenly Father. You’ve given us your Word through the scripture, and you have blessed us with the Living Word through Jesus Christ, your Son. He was made flesh to prove your love for us. Thank you for always showing us how mighty and powerful, and faithful you are. Thank you that having faith in you never fails and that you are the real deal. Help us to trust you and to walk with you and to believe you when you say, “I AM God.” In Jesus’ name, amen.
