All For His Glory
Ephesians 3:20-21
Today we are focusing on Ephesians 3:20-21. We’re going to try to apply this truth to our lives, the truth that ultimately it is all for his glory. I encourage you to pause, meditate and make notes in a journal or notebook, or in your Bible.
Ephesians 3:20-21 (NLT)
1 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
2 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
It starts with all glory to God. And it ends with “to God be the glory through all generations forever and ever!” It. Everything. It all begins with and it all ends with glory to God. And for our part, for our role in bringing God glory, his glory is accomplished through his mighty power at work within us. It is all from his glory, it is all for his glory, and his glory is accomplished through his mighty power at work within us.
And for his glory, God’s mighty power is at work within us to accomplish infinitely more than we could ask or think. And so, understanding that it’s all for his glory, how can we try to make this accomplish infinitely more about what we desire, or what our plans are, or what we expect, or what we assume when it all is clearly referring to accomplishing infinitely more for God’s glory?
Not for what we want, but all for his glory.
There is a promise here, there’s an assurance here in these verses that if we will join God in what he is doing for his glory, that through his mighty supernatural power at work within us, that God will accomplish infinitely more than we can ask or think. All for his glory. For his glory.
Heavenly Father, would you cause us to join you in bringing glory to you in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever? May we take our place in the countless generations of having you, Lord, work supernaturally in us, and through us in order to bring you glory according to your will and according to your plan, and through your mighty power at work within us. And may we see, Lord, that bringing you glory in the church and in Christ Jesus is the thing that is infinitely more than we could ever ask or think. It’s from your glory, it is through your power within us, and it is for your glory. May we be part of this infinitely more miracle. In your mighty name, Jesus, and for your glory, all for your glory, amen.
Now, would you just take a literal minute to respond to God in light of these two verses? Look at these verses and talk to God about how these verses apply to your life right now. Do you have an “all for his glory” grasp on your relationship with Jesus Christ? If not, you can ask him right now to give you that deeper understanding of the miracle life that is living all for his glory. And, is there something in your life that you could have an “all for his glory” perspective on right now? What would that thing look like? And what would it take for you to change your perspective and to change your actions to an “all for his glory” perspective? Would you just take that one minute, sixty seconds, to meditate on these verses and to ask God these questions? Try to stay focused on just this subject – all for his glory.
I pray that you have connected with God in this time during this devotion. I pray that you have heard him speak to you through his living Word, and by the power of his Holy Spirit. And if God did speak to you during this time, I would encourage you to grab a journal or notebook and write it down – make some notes.
