Lord, You KNOW me.

Lord, You KNOW Me

Take 9 minutes to have a Real Daily Devotion with God. We've got the scripture right on the screen, or grab your Bible and meet God in his Word.
We’re going to take three devotions to look at Psalm 139, and so today’s Real Daily Devotion is part one. The title of the devotion this morning is “You Know Me.” We’re looking at Psalm 139:1-6, and I can’t help but make this a prayer for me, personally. And so, I’m hoping that you can make it a prayer for yourself as well. So, let’s dive into God’s word, and if you can, please make this your own personal prayer as I make it mine.

Psalm 139:1 says, oh Lord, you have examined my heart. Lord, you have searched the deepest places of who I am, and you know everything about me. Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. You know me far better than I know myself. Lord, you know me as the creator knows his creation. You know me altogether.

Verse 2 says, you know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. Lord, the smallest things about me, you know. You know my sitting down. You know my standing up. And my thoughts Lord – you know my thoughts even when my thoughts are far away from you. Lord, you know me so intimately. You know the real me, the very real me. Lord, I can even pretend to myself. I can even deceive myself. I can convince myself of something, but Lord, you know me better. You know me better than I know myself. You know the real me.

And verse 3 says, Lord, you see me when I travel. When I wander, Lord, you see me. You know my path. You see the direction that I’m going, Lord, and you know exactly where I’m at, and you know exactly where I’m headed. And Lord, you see me when I rest at home. You know everything I do. Lord, you know everything I do. Every step I take. Every place I go. When I’m restless and when I’m resting, Lord, you know it all – you know it all together. You know everything I do.

Verse 4 says, Lord, you know what I’m going to say even before I say it. Lord. You’re not watching me to see what I’m going to say. You’re not waiting and listening to see how I’m going to speak or handle a situation. Lord, you already know it all together. Every word, in every situation, from beginning to end. You know what’s building up in my heart, and you know every word I’m about to say in every situation. You know when I’m going to speak out of anger or pride or jealousy. And Lord, you know when I’m going to speak in faith, and trust, and peace. And Lord, most the time, I don’t even know what I’m going to say. But Lord, you know it all together, you know every word in every situation.

And verse 5 says, you go before me, and you follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Lord, you hem me in. You press in on all sides of me. You don’t only know me from afar, Lord, you don’t only know about me, you press in close to me, Lord. You know me personally, closely, relationally. Your reassuring presence is before me, and behind me, and upon me. Lord, this is your greatest blessing. It’s your constant presence with me. And Lord, you place your hand of blessing on my head. Lord, you are with me, and you are for me, to lead me and to guide me and to place your blessing on my life.

And finally, for today Lord, verse 6 says, such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It’s too great for me to understand. Lord, the level, the intensity of your knowing me, is too wonderful. It’s too incredible for me to be able to grasp. It’s too great for me to ever fully understand. Lord, this knowledge of me leaves me speechless. I don’t even know what to say, trying to grasp the depth and the intimacy of your knowing of me.

Lord, how can I ever say that you don’t know me? How can I ever say, Lord, that you don’t understand me? How can I ever say, Lord, that you are not with me? How can I ever say that you’re not for me, Lord? How can I ever say that your hand blessing is not upon me?

Lord today, today, I believe and receive your word. This is the depth and the intimacy of your knowing me. And Lord, I commit to rest in this today because Lord, the full truth is that you know me this well, and you still love me completely. And Lord, you still love me completely unconditionally.

You know me this well, Lord, and you still love me so much that you’ve made me your own. Jesus, you paid the full ransom for me with your life. You redeemed me, you purchased me with your own blood, and you call me your own, for now, and for eternity.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, is too great for me to understand. And so, Lord, may I continue to follow you. Jesus, may I continue to follow you in this confidence, Lord. May I continue to follow you resting in this life-transforming truth that you know me altogether, that nothing escapes you or evades you, that you are with me, before and behind me, and your hand of blessing is upon me. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for knowing me, and thank you for saving me. Lord, I pray that you would be glorified in my life. In your name Jesus, amen.
