Message 24
We are back in John 7 in the Feast of Tabernacles section that we started in our last message at the beginning of John 7. There will be one more message coming about the response. However, today we’re in verses 25-39 of John 7.
In our last message, “Living Water Part 1,” we saw Jesus set the stage during the Feast of Tabernacles, both when he was heading down there and initially upon his arrival. The purpose in that first message was to show that Jesus was exposing the dry wells that we try to drink from, the dry wells of unbelief, and poor judgment, and empty tradition. So, he showed us that before he showed us what he would show us today. He exposed the falsehood of the wells of the world and the wells of religion.
And through all that last message, heaven was setting up the crescendo for the Feast of Tabernacles, which happens today in the narrative. Jesus stands and cries out on that last and greatest day of the feast as he offers himself as the source of Living Water. It’s the crescendo of the feast.
That’s where we’re headed today.
