New Things
Hi, y’all. It’s Daisy. And today we are on the “Encountering The Father” page. If you do not have an Alone With God journal, please come get one from wordbymail.com. It is a truly life-changing and life-giving journal. If you don’t have a journal, that’s okay. You can still follow along.
Today we are going to start off with one of my favorite verses, Isaiah 43, verses 18-19.
Isaiah 43:18-19(a) (NIV) 18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?. . .
I love that verse! And I was just thinking that as we reflect on our time spent with God this week, I think it’s so important to ask what God is trying to show us and the new ways in which he is speaking to us.
And sometimes, he can come in this booming voice. But sometimes, he comes in a quiet, soft whisper to get you to really lean in and truly listen. But either way, God is always communicating with us, and he’s always at work in our lives. And it’s so much greater than we can even ask for or even imagine. So, this week, let’s just reflect on the amazing things that he has done for us. In what ways has he surprised you? In what ways has he blessed you, or used you, or changed you?
For me, God has shown me to be more patient and has taught me to speak to myself in a more uplifting way. And he’s really helped me to realize the power in taking authority over my thoughts and my response to my thoughts and not continuing to plant seeds of doubt or worry in my mind. I think sometimes doubt and worry can be almost addictive. And I’ve really taken a stand against that and just said, “No more! I’m not giving in to those thoughts. I know who I am. I know the promises I stand on. And I will not be moved no matter what happens.”
So, that’s how I tackled this page. But now, it’s your turn. So please take a few minutes and reflect on your growing relationship with God and the new things that he’s doing. And just celebrate that for a little bit, and really think about that the King of the Universe is coming to you and is forming this relationship with you, this bond with you. That’s the most powerful friend that you could have. I just think that is so beautiful – it almost moves me to tears because I just think “Who am I that God would want to take this time to get to know me, even though he already does? But, like, to get to know me where I am and for me to get to know him. And for us to just grow in this relationship with each other is just so beautiful, and I am so blessed and so thankful.
Take a moment. Reflect on your relationship with God, and we’re going to pray together. So, let’s pray.
Dear God, what new things do you have in store for me? I can’t wait to see what you do in my life and how you shape me as a person. I’m so thankful to be the clay in your hands. In Jesus’ name, amen.
