Share Your Story

Hey, y’all, it’s Daisy. And today we are looking at the “This Week” of our Alone With God journal. Which means that we are looking ahead and we are taking inventory of our lives, and we are asking God to strengthen us, and enlighten us, and set intentional goals for our focus this week because that is how God changes our lives.

It’s really important to take some time and be intentional about the parts of your life that you want to pray over, and what you want to focus on spiritually. And so, this journal really gives us a chance to do that. And if you don’t have the Alone With God journal, you can get one at wordbymail.com.

Today’s devotional is something I wrote and it’s called “Share Your Story.”

Ephesians 3:1-6 (NRSV) 1 This is the reason that I, Paul, am a prisoner for Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles — 2 for surely you have already heard of the commission of God’s grace that was given me for you, 3 and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words, 4 a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ. 5 In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: 6 that is, the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

It never ceases to amaze me how common and shared our experiences as Christians are — yet they are also so personal. Only God could reveal himself to us and connect us through the truth of who he is while also gaining our trust in a very personal way. All of our stories point back to the Creator — our Storyteller — so that all of us can be joined as the Body of Christ in a unique and personal way.

As we connect deeper to God and allow him to transform us in such a personal way, our lives become unique enough to stand out but relevant enough for us to connect to others and share the good news.

God is so cool, and God is so good.

Questions: In what way is God calling you to share your story? What has he done to show up for you in a very personal way? Take a few moments to thank him for loving you enough to give you a story that stands out but for also making you part of a community that can relate to what you’ve experienced.

Prayer: God, thank you for unveiling yourself to us and for giving us a glimpse into the mystery of who you are. Help us to be bold and share our testimony because when we put our stories to good use, we become part of the testimony of others, and you take great delight in those who share your story. In Jesus’ name, amen.
