Fighting Battles
Ephesians 6:12 (ESV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over the present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places.
I have been feeling really overwhelmed by the world lately. The noise has gotten a little too loud. As a girl in her 20s trying to navigate the world and plan for the future in this political and cultural climate, it feels like I am fighting a losing battle on most days. But when I immerse myself in the Word, I don’t feel so alone. I see that these battles have been fought since the beginning of time and that there is truly nothing new under the sun. And although I’m still not quite sure what to do, I find so much comfort in knowing who to turn to.
God is always bigger than any battle we face, and he has come to conquer the darkness with his light. There is so much more hope than there is hopelessness because evil is no match for the goodness of God.
Questions: Take a moment to reflect on the spiritual battles that you’re up against. In what areas of your life do you feel the most powerless? How can you use prayer, worship, scripture, or your Christian community to face these battles and lean into the hope of Jesus?
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your everlasting strength, love, and wisdom. Help me to stand firm and be a light in the darkness. Cover me in your mercy and remind me to put on the full armor of Christ each day so that I may bring glory to you and be part of the solution rather than more of the problem. In Jesus’ name, amen.
