Are You Feasting On The Bounty?

Psalm 36:8-10 (CEB) 8 They feast on the bounty of your house; you let them drink from your river of pure joy. 9 Within you is the spring of life. In your light, we see light. 10 Extend your faithful love to those who know you; extend your righteousness to those whose heart is right.

I will be the first person to admit that change terrifies me. It is something I am asking God to help me with. I am afraid of the unknown. I am afraid of having the rug pulled out from under me. I am paralyzed with fear when I think about my life losing any type of stability or predictability. Something that God has started to show me is that change is actually a gift. For everything that I have lost, I have gained something new or better. Changes outside of me have made for greater changes inside of me.

I love how David praises God in Psalm 36:8-10. God is truly his portion, and because of that, David is never unsatisfied. Throughout all of the changes in his life, he never takes His eyes off God. When we focus on lack, our awareness of lack increases. When we focus on goodness and blessing, our awareness of God’s abundance increases, and we see more and more evidence of His love and faithfulness in our lives.

Questions: Are you feasting on the bounty that God has offered you? Are you drinking from His river of joy? Is your fear of change causing you to lose sight of what gift God is trying to bring into your life?

Prayer: God, I am so sorry for losing sight of the bountiful gifts you have poured out for me. I am sorry I have taken you and your blessings and provision for granted because of the pride in my own heart. I feast on your goodness and will happily embrace the changes that you are making in my life so that there is more room for you and the love that you want to pour into my life. In Jesus’ name, thank you for taking care of me. Amen.
