Journal Guide - Healing - 2 Chronicles 7:14

Healing
2 Chronicles 7:14

Week 8/Day 2

Hi, y’all. It’s Daisy, and today I’m inviting you back to join me as we open our Bibles and spend some quality alone time with God. All you have to do to follow along with this devotional is get a pen, a Bible, and a designated journal. And hopefully, you have our Alone With God journal because it is perfectly crafted for this devotional. But if you don’t, it’s okay. Just please reach out to us so that we can get you one because it really is the perfect way to practice spending alone time in the scripture and really building a fantastic, strong, solid foundation in your relationship with God.

Today we are going to be meditating on 2 Chronicles 7, verse 14. I am going to read the verse a couple of times, and then you can read it on your own, and after you have meditated on it, we will move on to the application part of this devotional.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Go ahead and read the verse again slowly and carefully. In the Meditate section of your journal page, write down what God’s Word is saying here. What are the spiritual principles found in this verse?

When I was little, I thought it was so cool when I would hear that celebrities would get to go to Disneyland, and they’d get one of those fast passes that let you skip the line. I just always thought it would be so cool to receive that kind of, like, royal treatment.

And as Christians, we are beloved children of God, and so we always have direct access to the Creator of the Universe with all of his infinite power, and wisdom, and love at any time of day. We don’t have to wait in line for him to hear our prayers. The moment that we pray, he instantly hears us.

And so, if we humble ourselves, and we repent, and we really ask God for his help, he promises that he will hear us and that he will deliver us. So, there’s no need to wait for the healing and attention that God has to offer us because it’s available to us at any time.

So, how can you apply this scripture to your life? What thoughts do you have? What stands out to you about this verse? What do you need healing from? And are you looking to God for that healing? So, in the Apply section of your journal, write down how this verse applies to your life today, personally and specifically.

Now we are going to take a moment and respond to God with our actions. So, what is one step that you can take today to trust God in his promise to heal and rescue you? What does trust in God look like? In the Respond section of your journal, write down your response to God.

Finally, we are going to close out in prayer. I will pray for us first. And then, you will take a couple of minutes, and in the Pray section on your journal page, write a prayer of your own to God to align your heart with his will on the truth in this scripture.

Let’s pray together.

God, thank you. Thank you that you are merciful and that you are quick to forgive. Please help me to humble myself and help me to seek you earnestly so that I may be healed. Work diligently in my life to change me at my core and to make me a new creation in Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.
