This Week 08 - Psalm 55:16-17
This Week
Psalm 55:16-17
Week 8/Day 1
Hi everyone. It’s Tricia, along with Daisy. Thanks for joining us today. We’re here today with another Alone With God journal guide for you. So, just open your Alone With God journal to your page titled “This Week” and grab your Bible and a pen. If you don’t have an Alone With God journal, contact us at wordbymail.com, and you can order one there.
This page, titled “This Week,” is simply to set our focus for the week. There is a space for us to write our prayers in the section titled My Prayers Are: This week, I wrote down “direction for my week, daily.” I’ve got healing for specific people. And then, I noted salvation for some family members and some others that I know.
And then My Spiritual Focus Is: is a great place to write down where God is pointing us to focus this week. As I thought about that, I wrote down “listening and obeying,” and this is kind of a carry-over for me. So, I wrote that down. And then I wrote down, “following hard after Jesus to feel the closeness of his presence.” That’s a really big deal for me this week. The closeness.
So, let me just pass it over to Daisy, and she’s going to be reading from Psalm 55, verses 16-17, and talking about closeness with us this week. So, here’s Daisy.
Sometimes it can feel like God is barely listening – like he’s distracted or distant. Sometimes he just feels far away. And sometimes, it feels like our prayers are barely making it to heaven. But in those moments, we have to choose to believe and to have faith that God is true to his promises. He promises that he’s close to the brokenhearted and that he binds up our wounds. He promises that he will never leave or forsake us.
Psalm 55:16-17 (NIV)
16 As for me, I call to God, and the Lord saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
Let’s stand on that promise.
Lord, I cry out to you in my pain, in my despair, in my distress. God, the pain is so overwhelming sometimes that I feel you can’t see me, that you can’t hear me. But I choose to remember you and your promises. And so, even in the midst of my pain and my suffering, I cry out to you. I turn my head to you, and I trust that you hear me. In the morning, at noon, in the evening, you are there. So, I will never stop seeking your face. I will never stop seeking your comfort. Thank you, Lord. Thank you for hearing my prayer. And thank you for sending me your comfort. In Jesus’ name, amen.
