What Am I Grateful For?
Psalm 40:1
Week 5/Day 6
Hi everyone, it’s Tricia with another Alone With God journal guide. Today, Pastor Dave is going to pray through Psalm 40, verse 1. But first, if you don’t have an Alone With God journal, we encourage you to order one at wordbymail.com. You will be amazed at how God will transform your life as you meet with him intentionally in his Living Word.
If you do have an Alone With God journal, turn it to the page that says, “What Am I Grateful For This Week?” This page is simple but powerful. Here at the top section, is a space for your Answered Prayers. Look back over your week, and see where God has moved and answered you in your prayers and petitions to him this week. But maybe you’re thinking of prayers God hasn’t answered yet… you can write those here too, but this page is designed to reflect on what you have to be grateful to God for in this past week.
So, below the Answered Prayers section is space for you to write. I find this is the best place to gather my thoughts and write my thanksgiving to him for what I am grateful for this week. There is always something to be grateful to God for; this is the best place to write those down for this week. So, pause the recording. Reflect on the prayers God has answered in your life, and write those down along with what you are grateful for this week, then come on back.
Now, Pastor Dave is going to read Psalm 40, verse 1, and pray through it to close. Have a truly blessed day ahead, and I’ll talk to you next time. Take care.
Here’s Pastor Dave.
Psalm 40:1 (NLT)
1 I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.
And Lord, that’s our prayer, is for patience, to be able to wait patiently for you, Lord. To trust you completely that we don’t demand that you work on our timetable, Lord, but we trust your timetable, your purpose, and your plan, Lord. And, Lord, you say as we wait patiently for you to help that you will turn toward us. You will turn your face toward us, Lord. You will hear our cry, and Lord, we know that you will lead and guide us for your name’s sake, Lord, setting our path before us.
God, we thank you for the promises in your Word, Lord, that promise your response when we do trust you completely. And so with that situation, Lord, that we’ve been thinking about this entire time, Lord, we just hold it up to you. We give it to you right now, Lord, and we say, “We trust you with – this.” We trust you, Lord. We trust you wholly and completely, and we thank you that we can.
We pray, Lord, as we trust and as you lead and guide, provide and protect for us, that we would give you all the glory, all the honor, and all the glory. And we pray it, Lord, in your precious and in your mighty name, Jesus, amen.
