Encountering The Father
Joshua 1:9
Week 5/Day 5
Hi everyone, it’s Tricia with an Alone With God journal guide for you today. Today is day five of your week, so open your Alone With God journal to the page in your week titled “Encountering The Father.” If you don’t have an Alone With God journal, you can order one at WordByMail.com.
So, the "Encountering The Father" page is where we look back over our week and consider the question, “What Did God Reveal To Me In Our Alone Time Together This Week?” Maybe it was big. Maybe it was little. But I’ll tell you what, as I develop this habit of weekly writing what God is revealing to me, I begin to actually recognize it during the week. I can feel God moving and speaking and the Holy Spirit poking at me. So, here is where I write all of that down. I encourage you to take some time, stop this recording, write in this section, and then come back.
Alright, the next section I write in says, “What Scripture Is He Highlighting?” When he pierces my heart with some truth from the scripture this past week, that scripture is the one for sure that goes here. Whatever scripture he used to reveal himself to me or poke me – that scripture is what I write here. So think back over your week. Maybe look at your Daily Journal pages where you dug in deep to his Word, and write the scripture or the scripture references here. Go ahead, pause this recording, do that, and come back.
And the last area to write in says, “How is He Changing Me?” I have said this is a challenging area for me to write in because I have not been comfortable writing down these types of things. But I tell you what. This has been a game-changer for me. When I get honest here, and I look back over each day, and then acknowledge where God is dealing with me and how he is changing me and write that down, I find my courage in him to write it, first of all. But I also find that physically writing the acknowledgment of what he is doing is eye-opening, amazing, and draws me closer to him. I encourage you to take some time here. Pause the recording. Look back over each day, and notice how He is transforming your life. It’s there, I promise you. Write it down, and come back one last time.
Okay. Listen, thanks for joining me today in this brief journal guide on the Encountering The Father page. Let’s close with Daisy reading from Joshua and then praying. I’ll talk to you next time. Take care.
Here’s Daisy.
Let’s come boldly before the throne and ask God to give us courage to face the day.
Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Let’s pray.
Lord, I ask for your strength and your courage to help me today. I don’t know what’s going to happen or what lies ahead, but I do know that I can conquer this day through the strength of Christ because you are with me where I go. You are my God. You lift my head above the water so that I do not drown. So, I will not be afraid. You are my Shield. You are my Shepherd. You are my Protector. In Jesus’ name, amen.
