Encountering The Father
Deuteronomy 31:8
Week 4/Day 5
Hi everybody, it’s Tricia. It's time to open your Alone With God journal to the "Encountering The Father" page, day five for this week.
Your "Encountering The Father" page is simply a place for you to review how God has met you over this past week. There is an area for you to write What did God reveal to me in our alone time together this week? I write what he has really brought out to me, what he spoke directly to me through his Word this week. I like to look back over my daily journal pages and see where God’s Word really sank in and the truths he opened my eyes to this week – that’s what I write here. So, in this section, just look back over your journal pages, see what really struck you this week in your time with God, and write that down.
And then, in the What Scriptures is He Highlighting? section, write down what verses stuck with you this week. You can either write the Bible reference or even the whole verse. For me, I write the verse that I am clinging to for the week, the one I pray or speak when I am needing God the most or when he is really working on me.
The How is he changing me? section has been my most challenging area to write in, because I have to actually write what he is doing in my life. And for me, this has been what area of my life he has his finger on and where I need to submit and obey. Have I been obedient to him this week? Have I responded in faithful action this week? This is where the journal pages help because I can look back and say, okay. Did I respond in obedient actions to the truths I learned this week? Does God still need to work with me in this area of my life? This is where he changes me, and I acknowledge the work he is doing in my life. So, take some time for this area and really reflect on the changes you can see or feel, and write those down.
Let’s just read a verse of encouragement and pray to close.
Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)
8 Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for going ahead of each one of us. Thank you that you have prepared the way for us to walk in, and we only need to look for your footsteps and put our feet in them. Thank you, Lord, that you are with us. You promise to be with us. When we look for you - there you are. You never fail us. You never leave us abandoned and alone, cast off, rejected. You, Jesus, have welcomed us with open arms. And even while we were your enemy, you still didn’t abandon us to our sin, but made a way for us to be in the presence of God. We praise you, Lord, for these truths today. Help us to move forward in them, trusting ever more in you, moment by moment, each day. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, amen.
Alright everyone, thanks for joining me today. Go forward and Encounter The Father, and be amazed by what he is doing in your life! I’ll see you next time, take care. Bye.
