This Week wk03 - Micah 6:8

This Week
Micah 6:8

Week 3/Day 1

Hi everyone, my name is Tricia, and I am part of the team working on the Alone With God journal. It’s time to turn to your “This Week” page in your Alone With God journal. This is the first page of your week in your journal. If you don’t have an Alone With God journal, you can order one by downloading the Word By Mail phone app in your app store or online at wordbymail.com. You can also use a notebook or journal that you have on hand, dedicated specifically to meeting with the Lord.

So, the page titled “This Week” in the journal is designed to help us look forward to our week spiritually and set our focus on what God is calling us to for this particular week. The first section says, My Prayers Are: and this is where we stop, focus, and let the Lord bring to mind who or what we want to lift up before him this week. What is on my heart? Who is on my heart? Is there a situation or circumstance that I need guidance for, especially in this coming week? Am I or someone I know facing a challenge? Am I praying for someone’s salvation? This is where we write those prayer prompts or even a prayer down for the week ahead.

And then, the second section says, My Spiritual Focus Is: This is a space for us to pause and think about what the Spirit is bringing to our mind to focus on this week spiritually. Is there a scripture that has been coming to mind? Is there a particular area in my life specifically that God is wanting to work on? Taking the time to come before God, ask him what he has for you this week, listening, and then writing it down is so powerful.

Let me read Micah 6:8 today and pray that for us as we look ahead to the week. Let’s be aware of what he wants us to really focus on spiritually for this week. This verse connects our faith with our actions, our care for those in need with our walk with God.

Micah 6:8 (NLT)
8 O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Let’s pray.

Oh, Heavenly Father, we just come before you now, looking forward to our week ahead. You have indeed told us, Lord, what is good, and what you require from us. God, help us to do what is right this week. May you show us the right path to take, the right decision to make. And as we listen, help us, Lord, to focus and obey and to make the right choice, and then the next right choice, and the next one. Lord, may we love mercy, your mercy, your Hesed. Your lovingkindness. Help us to have compassion for those in need, Lord. Help us to give the mercy to others that you have so freely given each of us. And God, help us to walk with you this week free from arrogance and the need to be better than others. Allow our relationship with you to be humble, and simple, and deep as you draw us closer to you daily. We pray all of these things in the mighty name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and for your glory, amen.

Now go off ahead for your week and go to your "This Week" page and write your focus and your prayers. We'll see you later. Bye.
